Grants in UCF Financials
UCF Financials is the university’s online accounting system that is made up of a group of modules that work together to automate a variety of accounting tasks. The Grants module was added to UCF Financials in November 2019 to help in the management and tracking of grant-funded projects. The addition of this module made aggregate data about grants available in a centralized location and allowed users to run reports on grant-related processes. It serves as a link between the pre-award system and the modules used to support award billing and receivable functions.
The Grants module collects important data for a funded award. Associated with each grant or award are projects that are defined by a Project ID. Projects not associated with awards are also designated by the Project ID. Research Foundation will have some “Non-Grants projects”, as well as, projects associated with awards. Additionally, the Office of Research (OR) Award Management group will directly add the customer to UCF Financials.
The UCF Rising program brings an important process change in that all salary cost transfer transactions now originate in the Human Capital Management (HCM) system, rather than the UCF Financials General Ledger. Salary will also be encumbered.
